Accredited Visiting connects patients, parents and caregivers with the support they need.

The MyHeartVisit® Accredited Visiting Program inspires hope and provides SUPPORT to patients, caregivers and families. Accredited Visitors, who are patients, caregivers or parents themselves, listen and share information about living with heart disease from the perspective of someone who has firsthand experience. Our trained volunteers make more than 200,000 peer connections each year.

Accredited Visiting Improves Lives

Accredited visiting improves the lives of patients, parents, caregivers AND those who visit them. Don’t just take our word for it—you can hear it directly from them:

Peer Support Makes a Difference

Studies show that peer support helps patients, parents and caregivers understand the importance of following treatment plans, taking medication, and making positive lifestyle changes. It also improved emotional and physical well-being. Healthcare professions recognize the difference Mended Hearts®, Young Mended Hearts® and Mended Little Hearts® make in the lives of patients and families. Hear from our founder, Dr. Dwight E. Harken and his son about the benefits of Mended Hearts’ support.

Accredited Visitors are trained in empathy, active listening, diversity sensitivity, our “Rules of Conduct” (such as NO medical advice, NO comparing, BE positive, etc.), and privacy and confidentiality. Patients, caregivers and families can receive visits in-person (where available), by phone, by email, online and even by video chat. When you need inspiration, hope and support, MyHeartVisit volunteers are there for you.

You are not alone!
