Discussion Communities

You can join one of the Mended Hearts®, Young Mended Hearts® and Mended Little Hearts® online Discussion Communities to get support, ask questions, share stories, inspire others and so much more.

When you join a Discussion Community, you will be asked to create a login and you will be added to a listserve for that community (choose as many communities as apply to you). You can receive emails when people post your communities in a format that works best for you (digest form or as they are made). You can log in to your communities at any time to communicate with people in your communities—you may even make someone’s day with your thoughtful comment.

Mended Hearts Open Forum

This community is for all patients with any type of heart disease. Come ask questions, share stories, give tips, and provide hope and inspiration to fellow heart patients and their caregivers. This community is open to everyone.

Mended Little Hearts Open Forum

This community is for patients living with a congenital heart defect or congenital heart disease (CHD) and their parents and families. Congenital heart disease means heart disease that babies are born with. Patients and families impacted by CHD often have unique concerns and experiences, and this forum is for them to share. All are welcome.

MLH (Mended Little Hearts) Bereaved Families Communities

Unfortunately, not all children and adults living with congenital heart disease (CHD) live to a normal life expectancy and still far too many children die from CHD. This closed community is for those who have lost a loved on to CHD to share, ask questions and provide support.

Afib (Atrial Fibrillation) Support

This community is designed to connect patients with atrial fibrillation and their caregivers. Here, people living with Afib can get support and information about living with Afib from patients themselves.

Heart Failure Support

Nearly 5 million Americans are currently living with congestive heart failure. Approximately 550,000 new cases are diagnosed in the United States each year. This community is designed to connect patients with heart failure and their caregivers.

LVAD (Left Ventricular Assistive Device) Support Community

Sometimes when the heart can’t pump enough blood to the body, it needs some help from an LVAD. This may be a bridge to transplant or treatment itself. Patients on an LVAD or who have been on an LVAD can support each other in this community.

PSVT/SVT (Paroxysmal Supraventricular Tachycardia/Supraventricular Tachycardia) Support Community

PSVT/SVT can occur at any age even in people with no other types of heart disease. It is when the heart beats abnormally fast. Because this disease is often under-diagnosed, patients with this disease may feel like they are the only ones with it. This community helps them realize that they are not alone and have others like them to talk to.

TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement) Support Community

Many patients with severe aortic stenosis are now candidates for a TAVR procedure instead of surgery to repair their aortic valve. Although TAVR has now been around for several years, TAVR patients and their caregivers are often looking for a place to ask questions of other TAVR patients and share experiences. This is that community.

Valve Patient Support

This community connects patients with heart valve disease and their caregivers. Valve disease is any issue with a heart valve—mitral, tricuspid, aortic, and/or pulmonary—whether you are born with heart valve issues or they occur later in life.

Facebook Communities

Mended Hearts and Mended Little Hearts have some closed Facebook communities for support.
